Hayam Elsayed is a portrait artist based in London who finds beauty in the ordinary. She loves to analyze simple subjects and capture their essence in her paintings. Her passion for fine art began at a young age and she finds inspiration in life and nature.
Her extensive knowledge in art history has allowed her to admire other styles such as impressionism and abstract art, with Vincent Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keeffe being among her favorite artists. She is also fascinated by the realism of Renaissance portraits by artists like Leonardo and Botticelli. However, her favorite art style is realism, which she believes best portrays subjects as they appear in life.
When it comes to creating her own art, Elsayed uses oil paint on canvas, which was the traditional form of art used by the Old Masters. This medium has a particular element of shine, that when applied to portraiture, provides an additional level of realism which brings the viewer in. There is something particularly difficult in achieving connection in portraiture, and Elsayed has accomplished this feat and ran with it.
