EXHIBITION: APRIL, 2021

For the ‘Art Takes 2021’ competition we asked artists to respond to artmaking in 2020 - an unprecedented year in which visual communication and outreach united us across digital divides. The work exhibited here explores the painful and hopeful themes of 2020 and 2021 including culture, justice, equity and fantasy. 2021 will be the spring to our 2020 winter and Art Takes 2021 represents the motivation and spiritual rebirth a long hibernation can bring.

Art Takes 2021 was held in April 2021 at:

Bosco Mistico, 2020 - OOOPStudio

2020 – Where man cannot assert himself, there is an uncontaminated place, always present but forgotten. The wood, sacred and vital, accompanies us eternally like a silent witness, breathing next to us and going on with its productive cycle, even when, as the night falls, the city stops. Through every fibre and every inhabitant, animal or plant, nature keeps operating, making the magic of awakening possible. When the machine shuts down, the forest carries on its mysterious work giving life to a ritual that takes place from dusk to dawn: trees talk moving their branches, each swing is like a whisper, leaves are words, grass stalks sway and touch each other, barks creak and stretch… Read more

OOOPStudio is an artistic project born in 2010 by video designers Alessandro Grisendi and Marco Noviello. Their digital artworks concretize visionary projects through elaborations starting from real data to give rise to new forms. New creations are abstracted from simple representation and realized through the fusion of natural and digital elements.

The animal and plant world, the main subject of their investigations, preserves and conserves its primal substance which is processed through digital distortion, and shaped to narrate its connection with reality - in order to create evocative experiences that allow spectators to be involved in the development and evolution of a story. Art, technology and people build a network of fundamental connections for the entire creative process, becoming immersive and vital.

OOOPStudio carries out projects for theater, music, ephemeral exhibitions, festivals and performances, collaborating with prestigious artistic and cultural institutions such as the Venice Biennale, La Scala Theater (Milan), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Farnesina -Rome), Staatstheater in Hannover, Nationale Opera & Ballet / Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam.
